ABC and 123

We are having lots of fun practicing the alphabet and numbers with our toddlers.  Even the babies sit with us during circle time and join in on the fun!  One of our favorite circle games right now is Hot Potato; we have reversed the rules though as it seems everyone loves to be the hot potato!

We also are running the Your Baby Can Read program daily but haven't discovered any baby einsteins from the program yet--we'll keep trying!

When we build with blocks it seems the thing to make now is castles; it used to be garages for our dinosaurs, so our architectural abilities are improving!

Several times a week we pull out the paints or playdoh and get creative.  When we aren't doing that, it's old fashioned fun with colors and coloring books.  We love using lots of colors in our pictures - the more, the better!

Meal time is sometimes a challenge; the kids aren't always receptive to the healthy meals that are provided.  We really encourage clean plates, and the kids love to show Grandma Lisa when they are finished. She gives them a big "WOOHOO!" - they love to giggle about that!

2012 is going to be a fun year full of exploration and imagination!

Sooo much fun!!

I am overjoyed to now be at home with my children and to have such sweet little ones come play and learn with us every day!  We now have 2 more children that attend Learning Ladder and only have room for a couple more (toddler age would fit best with our small group).  The children have enjoyed all sorts of activities so far: Nursery Rhyme flip chart, painting Christmas pictures, flash cards for various learning themes, Play Doh with number cut outs, singing and exercising to music, lots of free play encouraging use of  imagination, coloring, using the slide indoors, and hitting/kicking the large balloons to each other just to name a few.  We can't wait until we have a couple more friends join us each day! :-)

Let The Fun Begin!!

Learning Ladder Day Care is finally underway!  Two precious little girls will soon be joining our group, and I cannot wait to do all of the activities that are planned.  :-)  It will be so exciting to watch the lil ones grow and to provide them with loving care while they are away from their parents each day.

I recently bought some learning posters to teach the kids shapes, colors, numbers, and feelings.  My daughter really enjoys reviewing the pictures of the bears and discussing how they feel and why they might feel that way.

There are only a few spots left, so if you are searching for quality child care please contact me right away!  :-)

~Thoughts For Today~

I always love a good quote; here are some cute ones I've read about children :-)

Children seldom misquote.  In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt

A rose can say "I love you",
orchids can enthrall,
but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist,
yes, that says it all.

If you haven't time to respond to a tug at your pants leg, your schedule is too crowded.  ~Robert Brault

Children are great imitators.  So give them something great to imitate.

Halloween Fun

Today we took the girls to the Wild Zoo Halloween.  Carsyn loved getting treats from all the different stations that were set up and there were only a couple of times that I needed to remind her to say thank you!  :-)

It was a lot of fun seeing all the kiddos in their costumes.. I think my favorite was a little baby dressed like the Pillsbury Dough Boy; he was even chewing on a plastic rolling pin as his daddy pushed him around the zoo!

Tonight we're going to carve a pumpkin.  This will be the first year that I think Carsyn will actually enjoy pulling out the pumpkin guts.. Should be fun!!
